I’d like to point out that I was not monetarily compensated for this review. All the opinions and thoughts contained in this post are purely my own.

Review of “The Green Beauty Recipes” book

“The Green Beauty Recipes” book is the latest book by Julie Gabriel and an extension of her first book “The Green Beauty Guide“. I have to say when I started to read “The Green Beauty Recipes” book, I immediately understood that it is the one book that I really needed on the subject.

What is inside the book

This book has 232 pages packed of magnificent DIY beauty recipes. It also includes instructions, explanations and helpful hints to help you become a cosmetic guru in your own kitchen.

The first part of the book called “Handmade Beauty Basics” contains instructions on different preparation techniques, storage, preservation and other essential information which you need to know in order to become a successful “DIY beauty maker”.

There is something for everyone in this book. In fact, more then half of the book is packed with recipes for cleansers & toners, moisturizers, masks and scrubs, sun care, body care, hair care products, and bath treatments. Even baby care product recipes are included.

The recipes also vary from using the simplest basic kitchen ingredients to some slightly more complex creams containing different only natural additives. All the recipes in the book are surprisingly cheap and don’t contain any ingredients that you couldn’t find at a healthy store around the corner.

Every recipe provides detailed instructions on preparation, application and storage, which are very clear and easy to understand. Even those people who never created a facial mask in their lives will not have any troubles creating the most complex beauty product in this book.

After the DIY beauty section, Julie includes metric conversion charts and the list of websites she uses to purchase the ingredients used in her recipes.

Must do recipes from the book

I had a ton of fun testing out recipes from Julie’s collection. Here are some that I loved so much I couldn’t resist sharing:

Double Apple Toner

This toner really rocks!

Use this toner to exfoliate and purify oily, blemished skin. Apple supplies anti-bacterial pectin and a host of vitamins and minerals. One apple a day (the Green Beauty way!) will surely keep the dermatologist away!

Ingredients:
3 oz apple juice
1 tablespoon honey
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
5 drops tea tree essential oil

Instructions:
Core (don’t peel) the apple and coarsely chop it. Combine all the ingredients in the blender. Blend all ingredients using a stick blender. Strain through coffee filter paper and pour the toner into a container. Shake well before use. Smooth over the face, avoiding eye area. Rinse off with tepid or cool water. Store up to one month in a clean, cool place.

Grape and Clay Hair Volumizing Treatment

Clay helps remove excess oils that often result in limp, dull-looking hair. Grapes feed the scalp with antioxidants, while helping to gently polish away dead skin cells. Healthy, shiny, bouncy hair can emerge only from a healthy scalp. Keep that in mind!

Ingredients:
2–3 cups grape juice (any variety)
1 tablespoon white clay
1 cup green tea
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a glass or polypropylene (PP) bottle and shake well. Shampoo your hair as usual. Pour liberally over wet hair and massage lightly into scalp and along your hair length. Allow to remain on your hair for one minute or more, and then rinse off with cool water. Towel dry your hair and style as usual. This blend can be stored up to one week in a cold, clean place, ideally in a refrigerator.

Would I recommend “The Green Beauty Recipes” book?

Without a doubt! Yes, Yes and again Yes! I have never had such a valuable source of information concerning DIY beauty in my hands ever. Believe me I have read so many books on this theme, and most of them are now collecting dust on my shelf. But “The Green Beauty Recipes” is now proudly placed amongst some of my most beloved cookbooks in the kitchen, just so it is always at hand.

P.S. You can purchase the “The Green Beauty Recipes” from the author of this book Julie Gabriel at Amazon here.

I recently had an opportunity to review an excellent natural acne treatment book Eat Away Your Acne written by Fran Kerr and I’m so exited to share with you what I found inside.

So if you are looking for the best natural acne treatment, it is not often advised to use many of the over-the-counter acne products on the market. Specifically, acne can often be caused by a number of dietary issues, which is why Eat Away Your Acne is top on my list of the best natural acne treatments! This book offers a holistic alternative that trumps many other premium acne products on the market in both value and effectiveness.

If you are tired of using acne product after acne product with no results, you will no longer have to waste your time or your money. Eat Away Your Acne offers a natural treatment that can be used on its own to clear up the complexion or in conjunction with prescription acne medications to enhance the entire process. In short, this is a long-term lifestyle treatment that will allow you to eat the types of foods that you like that will also benefit the appearance and texture of your skin.

One of the most important components of Eat Away Your Acne is in teaching you which foods link to breakouts and acne lesions in the skin. By making the right food choices, it will promote smooth and clear skin, and it will also offer you the opportunity to follow this program for the rest of your life to have a flawless complexion that you will be proud of.

Eat Away Your Acne will tell you exactly how acne is formed, the different types of acne, and the root cause of all acne in your skin. It will also give you specific tips in avoiding foods that may trigger acne breakouts and even cause further inflammation in your complexion. Some examples of the foods to avoid within this diet plan are fried foods, greasy foods, sugar, processed foods, white flour, white pasta, and white rice. Many people don’t realize that sugar is a main cause of acne, and it can be found in so many different foods, including breakfast cereals, candy, cookies, and pastries.

In Eat Away Your Acne Fran says:
On top of that, this diet will also provide added benefits in further lifestyle changes, such as deeper sleep patterns, an improve memory, enhanced digestion, and better energy levels throughout the day. These simple changes to your diet will not only dramatically clear up frustrating acne breakouts, but they will also provide greater benefits in all daily bodily functions.

This Eat Away Your Acne diet plan also promotes hydration since water will work to flush toxins from the surface of your skin to prevent acne breakouts. It is important to understand how much drinking water benefits the surface of your skin, especially if you have been struggling to clear up your skin with no results thus far.

In short, Eat Away Your Acne will provide a complete guide to clear up your skin and enhance your daily life through an improved diet plan!

This book includes 3 Free bonuses:
1. 7 Easy Steps to Acne-Free Skin
2. A printable list of 72 skin care ingredients that you must AVOID if you have acne prone skin.
3. Treating Acne From the Inside Out

I really enjoined reading this book and it was really worth of spent money. So this is your chance to clear up your skin for good!. Click here to get your copy of Eat Away Your Acne book.

Over 600 recipes and synergies that utilize essential oil blends.
