How to Treat Cellulite and Loose Skin Naturally

Weight loss is one of the greatest things ever. You’ve worked hard, you’ve deprived yourself, you’ve exercised like crazy…and you’ve finally reached your goal! I’ve felt this before and the feeling was indescribable. Once you finally reach your ideal weight, however, another problem might surface.

During this time, when you are beyond joy that those jeans finally fit…..what can disrupt your happiness? The side effects of weight loss….which can be cellulite and loose skin. Today I am here to give you some all natural options to deal with and free yourself of these nuisances.

How to Treat Cellulite and Loose Skin Naturally

Sometimes no matter how much exercise you do, stubborn cellulite remains! What actually is cellulite? It is simply fatty deposits which push against the tissue beneath your skin, appearing like “cottage cheese.” It’s very common among women and even some men. Another side effect of weight loss (especially extreme weight loss) is loose, saggy skin. Believe me, I’ve experienced this before. It’s a very frustrating problem. You’ve worked so hard, yet there are still areas you’d like to improve…and no, surgery is not an option! What to do? Essential oils are your answer.

I came across a fabulous book in a thrift store (wow, what amazing things you can find there!) which details different ailments and exactly which essential oils to use for each. This book is called Aromatherapy A-Z by Connie and Alan Higley and is a complete guide to treating countless things. It’s tabbed for easy reading and looking up! I of course, went right to the weight section. Here is the recipe to use to reduce cellulite. You can use one or a combination of the following:

Basil, cedarwood, cypress, fennel, geranium, grapefruit, juniper, lemon, orange, oregano, patchouly, rosemary, rosewood, sage, tangerine, thyme

The following oils attacks fat: Basil, grapefruit, lavender, lemongrass, rosemary, sage, thyme

So many oils to choose from! It’s personal preference so you can combine any of the ones which are pleasing to your nose. Just remember essential oils can be strong when applied directly on the skin, so be sure to mix with a carrier oil, such as jojoba, olive, or almond oil. They can also be applied directly to the skin (you would only need one to three drops.) I chose to mix my oils with a carrier oil. I just put a few drops (less is more) of each of the essential oils I chose into a small bottle then combined with the carrier oil. I used castor oil…kind of thick, but has great benefits. Also remember that when using essential oils it’s important to make sure you are using pure, natural ones, not synthetic.

There are different techniques you can use to apply, such as body massage (I chose this method, massage the blend directly on the body parts afflicted,) auricular therapy (applying it to the ears,) vita flex therapy (applying to your feet,) or adding the oils to your bath. The oils can also be used by diffusing into the air for direct inhalation.

The suggestions for weight loss are even more complete in this book. The authors suggest adding 5 drops of lemon and grapefruit oil in a gallon of water. During the day, you sip from this mix and may add more grapefruit to dissolve fat more quickly.

Another blend to reduce fat is suggested and may be massaged into the body, on the feet, or used in the bath: Combine 4 drops lavender, 4 drops basil, 3 drops juniper, 8 drops grapefruit, 5 drops cypress. Mix and apply as directed.

When used regularly, essential oils can really make a difference for you not only to improve your skin, but to improve your mood. Aromatherapy has so many benefits, it couldn’t hurt to give these wonderful recipes a try. What have you got to lose…..besides your cellulite and wiggly skin?
