Rose Water
Rose water is used in cosmetics for its lovely scent, but also because it has light astringent properties. As the gentlest of all astringents, rose water is often used as toner for all type of skin. * 2-3 quarts fresh roses or rose petals

Fill the bottom of an enamel pot with the rose petals. Pour distilled water over the petals until they are just covered. Turn on heat for the water to be steaming hot, but do not boil. Let the water steam until the petals have lost their color (about 60 minutes), the water has taken on the color of the rose petals and you see rose oil skimming the surface.
